White House Aims to Stoke Botnet Fight

The Obama administration will hold a public meeting at the White House on Wednesday to discuss industry and government efforts to combat botnet activity. Among those is a pilot program to share information about botnet victims between banks and Internet service providers

About time. We've seen from our own botnet reporting efforts that the criminals do feel the pressure and are forced to change their methods to continue operating. It's way too easy for someone to build a large botnet right now.

I'm still posting lists of sites that have been exploited by one of the botnets in several recent campaigns (URL below). In about ten weeks I have posted nearly 200 lists. I note with interest the number of those sites located in the USA; (e.g., several including IP 72.5.102.164 are hosted on the Nuclear Fallout Enterprises network.) Generally, the sites in the most recent lists are more likely to still be spreading malware.
