Google blocked sites

Postby AlphaCentauri » Mon Jul 16, 2012 2:57 am

Well, maybe a little related to spam ...

If you are annoyed by sites that come up at the top of search results because of misleading keywords, etc., you can add the entire domain to your personal blocklist. It won't come up in your results, and Google may use users' blocking information when ranking such sites.

(yeah, that's the whole URL; it's not truncated)

You may block up to 500 sites.
I doubt that number will be sufficient for Red Dwarf.

It's not about all bad sites; it's about the ones that have managed to succeed at manipulating search engine results so they're always the first results when you're looking for something else, and the sites where they don't show you anything useful unless you jump through hoops for them (e.g., enable javascript).

The rumor that I have ceased to exist is hereby proven to be unfounded.

It crossed my mind to start a rumor on WOT that your mass-rating privileges had been withdrawn.

But to get back on-topic, I think that the Google option is a terrific feature. Thanks for the information, AC!

I've been wanting this feature in Google for some time now. Loved it at first! Now it seems to have been abandoned or something. Ever since Google+ came out, it hasn't been working. Chrome has an addon I use but having universal settings would still be nice.
