540,560 spams in 1.5 years

Over half a million spam emails to a handful of addresses on one domain abandoned over 6 years ago is ridiculous.

Starting the second half of August of 2009, nearly a quarter million (214,447) spams to non-existent addresses on one domain.

Wowzers......that's quite a gold mine you got there.....I'd be curious what kinda bait you got on that "hook" that seems to keep them biting? :)

But eh, I know a good fisherman never gives away their tricks :)

No bait.

I abandoned them when they started to get so much spam that they became unusable.
The spammers never remove bounces because I also deactivated them for a few years then
reactivated them to see if I could start to use them again.

Sounds like you have a good donation opportunity to the honeypot project.

But then again, it must be a good source for your own purposes.

I guess I didn't explain myself clearly in the OP.

The count is for the mentioned time period.
I was getting no less than 1000/day to 7 addresses that I had directed into one email box over that 6 year period.
I was getting 200-500/month to non-existent addresses. So that total is over a two year period.

Since the recent botnet take downs, the daily count has dropped significantly. Now, since I recently started reporting 419 addresses from an email on the same domain, those abandoned addresses are being removed from spammers address lists. I was getting 25-30 419 spams per day, now I get maybe 2 per day. I'll have to wait a little while longer to see if the other types of spam start to drop off too.
