Google's Kicking Ass

Postby Ervin » Thu Oct 01, 2009 10:36 pm

I just recieved this evenings flood of responses (although, recently it's been a lot less ) from Google's abuse team

I report every single 419 scam. It takes me less than 20 seconds to utilize the google phishing form.

Today I reported one scam that had two gmail addresses

That's 881 Complaints google recieved in the few seconds it took me to complete their form

Re: [#519101083] idpn0011

This one is 486 recieved in the few seconds it took me to complete their form

Re: [#519101293] idpn20055

This one is 210 recieved in the few seconds it took me to complete their form

Even though I don't know about how you may feel, I'm impressed that Google is taking this massive abuse seriously. For the most part Google is processing my complaints in 3-6 hours.

THANK YOU GOOGLE

Now if we could only get Yahoo's Phishing Team to get it together. I suspect though that Yahoo is either utilizing Temp's, have out-sourced their abuse issues, or are utilizing Teir 1 or below (if there is such a thing) types.

Google most definitely DO have an abuse team.

I report so regularly to them, and they take such swift action, that now all of my 419 messages arrive with addresses from the most obscure free-mail providers out there.

diamondfinance@9.cn
lukab@yubc.net
ikobogrant009@w.cn
honeywell_inc_ceo@mail2world.com

Plus gawab.net, gazeta.pl, a slew of others.

Use the form:

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/requ ... e_spoofing

They take definitive action.

Yahoo: they take, at minimum, 2 weeks to investigate.

Anyone sending Complainterator reports through Gmail? Lately, I've been getting some strange errors:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

manager@reg.ru

Technical details of permanent failure:
Message rejected. Please visit http://www.google.com/mail/help/bulk_mail.html to review our Bulk Email Senders Guidelines.

----- Original message -----
...

The message I sent was only to 2 addresses, that, and the info@reg.ru address. Not really "bulk" lol...

I know I didn't hit the 500 recipients limit outlined here:
https://mail.google.com/support/bin/ans ... swer=22839

Then I came upon the following page, https://mail.google.com/support/bin/ans ... swer=69585 which is suggesting to use attachments to report unsolicited spam e-mail.....but I don't know how effective that would be, I'd imagine most abuse desks strip attachments....? And well, we aren't really reporting "spam" in the traditional sense, but crafting our own complaints, so that leaves out that idea/suggestion.....really.

To determine if it was a problem with the recipient or contents. You could try sending the exact same email to another email address you control without any other recipients. If it is delivered, then most likely the mail server for the .ru domain is at fault. If it isn't delivered then google is at fault. If it turns out to be google, then you can tweak the message and use your email address as the recipient until you can get it to be delivered.

It's reg.ru. You get that no matter how you mail to them. They'll probably start reporting spam reports to spamcop next.

Thank you confirming that AC. But why would they be pointing me to Google's own page? lol. Almost like they are advertising for their "Google Groups" service...

Then, in one of my messages, I noticed something funky going on, they modified my "Original message" to include some phrase(s) in Russian.....

Google used to be pretty on the ball, but it seems that they have lost interest lately...
