RedDwarf,

How do I get a copy of the Complainterator?

The download page doesn't work...doesn't let me register. It times out right after I enter my name.

Thanks,

Steve

What is this?

Admin:

I got this message and have no idea why.

========================================
Attack Detected Your actions was recognized as an attack
========================================

FOUL!

I'm not trying to attack anything. Never have, never will and I would report on anyone who would.

All I did was log in from a 2nd machine and was successfully able to download Complainterator (finally).
Went back to my machine and cleared the cache and get this message after trying to log in.

Have no idea why your server is so messed up and picking on me for every normal action I try to do!!!

HELP!

Relax, it is not picking on you alone - I have got into that status a few times before, too! Bleeding computers!

To prevent DDOS attacks, the site detects when the same user is logged in from more than one machine (IP address) at once, and let's you know that that is not permitted.

Before logging in from a different machine (or browser or browser window tab on the same machine), make sure you log off from the first one.

Red is just playing with your mind. There's actually no logical reason known to man why that server does or does not allow people to log in. :lol:

OK, OK, to get even more geeky -

My suspicion based on experience is that the server holds the user's IP address, the logon ID and the session ID in a table.
If there is a duplicate of IP address or logon ID at any point in time, with a different session ID, it gets all paranoid and launches into a fit of attack-o-phobia.

It then throws out insults and a nasty abusive attack on the poor errant user, and if it is really having a bad-hair day, will even lock the user out until some guru with an oiling can and screwdriver comes along and gives it a tweak and a twiddle.

I would not be surprised to find that there are other criteria that can be the occasion for these attack-o-phobia diatribes, including suspicious referrer address.

It is a weird :tool: that suffers from bad potty training :toimonster:

That message is also triggered if certain pages that are not meant to
be loaded on their own if accessed directly.

ie. index.php may load required.php in the background, but if you try to load
required.php outside of index.php, you will get that hacking message. So what
happens is the calling page creates an in memory variable on the server and
if that variable is not found by required.php page, it throws out the hacking message.
Most of those pages control saving and retrieving data from the database and this
prevents hackers from injecting what ever they want into the database. Such as
replacing a downloadable file with a file containing a virus etc.

BTW: required.php Does Not Exist! I used that name as an example. :wink:
